I was judging at the Murphysboro, Illinois contest, a rare dual Memphis and Kansas City competition on September 26th, and there were cameras everwhere. I wound up as a Finals Judge in the Memphis style, and learned these were the TLC cameras following about a half-dozen teams through a whole series of cooking contests; Tower Rock was there from Missiouri, and Jack's Old South from Georgia; even a rare visit east by a California team. Because I was a finals judge, I got some serious camera time, but what makes it to air certainly remains to be seen. I did not break any cameras and did a short interview (they were probing for faults in Jack's Old South).

If you get to the site, and check the pics, Pic 2 is Myron Mixon of Jack's Old South out of Georgia. He won best rib, shoulder and whole hog and of course, Grand Champion in Murphysboro.

Damn, now I'm hungry.

These crews were everywhere at the American Royal this year too. I'm glad to see the show made it through editing so fast... Yes, TLC in Canada (pretty sure it's exactly the same as the main TLC network in the US) has already been running promos for it during the commercials. Watch for them, this series looks awesome.

Well, ya scared me by asking about BBQ Battles being shown in Canada. When I went to TLC Canada's website, it makes a very clear point that programming here is NOT the same as in the US. But if promos are showing up here for it, I am much relieved!!!!

Murphysboro Barbecue Cook-off NEW Lee Ann and Myron face off in whole hog competition while tempers flare between Johnny and one of the local cooks at a barbecue cook-off in Murphysboro, Ill.

If there is a God, I should be in the second episode. I am preening now for my 15 minutes...........*G*

It was a good introduction to Competition BBQ to the public. Lexi (our daughter) says Myron has a potty mouth and should be washed out with soap.
