It was a good show and I enjoyed it.

I agree with your daughter and I am really disappointed with the way TV is going. These people know that they are doing a TV show and should act appropriately. They know they are going to get bleeped and I think they do it just for effect. Ramsey is the worst at this. I think the producers of certain "reality" shows are telling people to swear as much as they want. After all I have have seen Myron in many interviews and shows int he past and he did not swear up a storm.

I did get a real good chuckle out of the rookie as there was no way you were going to wake that poor sap up. You would think for you first competition you would try some local events before you traveled 2000 miles to go to a major and get kicked.

I never actually heard Myron swear before, but he was always "on stage" when I met up with him as a judge......when I was interviewed for the show, they asked me negative stuff about Myron.....I wrote Myron later just to advise him of what I had said, and he said one thing he learned about reality shows is that there isn't much reality in them.

This was a real cut-and-paste show, but I think it conveyed all the aspects of a competition pretty clearly. The "cut-and-paste quickfire aspect of the show may make it tougher for a few to really get the aspect of this, but it had all the urgency you'd want.......I mean, didn't ya wanna know who won?????

For the record, In Washington DC, back in June, I judged Tuffy Stones ribs # 1.....but Myron won the category and the Grand Championship anyway..........and Tuffy has just the prettiest red cooker you've ever seen!

Damn, I'm hungry now, and I think the car is out back making travelling sounds.

Muffin Tin Chicken.. and a cooler full of margerine

I thought the show was good. Myron could use a class or two on how to respect your competitors

I mentioned on Diva's blog that I want to mess up Myron's hair and if I called my wife "Big Momma" it would not be a good thing. I know this as I looked at her while watching the show.

My thought is this will help raise the awareness of competitive Q. That's a good thing, I'd love to compete more out East where I'm from.

I believe in next week's show, the young kid from Texas goes "muffin tin" and Myron goes ballistic. I must say, this is a side of Myron I never saw before.

As for calling yer woman "big momma", that is a pretty Southern US thing that some wives/partners don't seem to mind all that much, and in fact take it as a compliment. Myron, in fact, lives in south central Georgia, about halfway between Atlanta and the Florida border. But no, don't try it much north of the Mason Dixon Line at all!

I have mentioned this before, but when I passed on to Myron some comments I had made for the TLC crew at Murphysboro (which, thankfully, and yet disappointingly at the same time, they did NOT use), he wrote back with a comment that he had learned the hard way that reality is not always reality. TLC put Waaaaaaayyy more drama into the Murphysboro show than I found when I was judging there. There are tons of good tidbits in the two episodes shown so far, but overall, I'm kinda disappointed in the "take-no-prisoners, cock-of-the-walk" depictions.

You know, and I know, that barbecuers are kind, gentle, friendly and courteous folk. OK, most of the time........

The "no swearing allowed" word referred to a male of the chicken family........*G* It's also a pretty good bagpipe tune, if there really is such a thing..........

I think that's the problem with all reality shows,,,, there's just no reality.

I personally feel that the day where reality shows were interesting,, came and went a few years ago......

But ,, just my opinion ,, people still seem to be watching them..I was looking forward to Pitmasters , and that ICE Pilot one,,, and I couldn't get through a full episode of either ...........same tired format,.

However,,,,,,,It's kinda like WWE ,, the fact that it's fake doesn't bother some people ........

New episode Thursday night (while the Alabama - Texas college championship is on!!!)

7 p.m. repeat of the Decatur contest, which was the best general overview of competition bbq.

10 p.m. off to The American Royal. Staying at that major event for two weeks.
