St Thomas UPDATE

Postby Iamarealbigdog » Thu Jun 17, 2010 2:47 pm

As many of you are aware the original scheduled date for St Thomas was June 18, & 19 which came into conflict with the Toronto event. Instead of splitting the teams we chose to move our event to October, being the next available opening for our venue and by our host organizer Railway City.

Unfortunately the venue and date is no longer available and we have been trying to confirm a suitable alternate venue for August 27 and 28. As so far this is proving to be a little more difficult then anticipated. All though the association is working hard with the hosting sponsor to find an alternate venue, I have placed a moratorium date for July 15th the day prior to Listowel for a location to be confirmed.

Hopefully within the next 4 weeks our hard work will pay off and our host will prevail, the desire is to proceed is still as strong as our first year.

Today being the 15th I promised an update regarding St Thomas. I am yet to be able to provide teams with good news.

We have had offers from Railway City, the Optimist Club and several other sponsors to step up to the plate, cash is not the problem. Unfortunately there are still too many unresolved issues and conflicts to confirm the event. While we have one last option that may still come together we will not receive a response from that group until next week after Listowel.

In addition, I am actively looking for a replacement for myself as the co-coordinator of the event. Due to recent changes in policy of the association all teams must compete in events to receive a score in the virtual circuit; my team is not willing to proceed without me.

Unless some very special magic happens, St Thomas will not be happening this year. If we are able to find a new coordinator the stakeholders are very keen to continue with the event in 2011.

Good luck to all in Listowel
